Why Stray?

Mary Daly defines Straying Power as "the ability to stray off the tracks". Straying power, as in, the opposite of staying power.

I'm usually on the computer when I should be doing something else, and so this space is for finding the power to stray. Finding the time to create instead of clean, to ponder instead of produce, to celebrate these years at home with my son instead of worrying that I'm not adding anything productive to the workforce.

I have fallen in love with blogs. I love the glimpses into other lives, seeing how bloggers combine their passions, their jobs, their families and daily bits of wonder. You inspire me daily--through craft ideas of course, but also through your celebrations of the bits of creativity that bring joy to your day. I write in this space to inspire myself, I suppose. To consider and record my own little happinesses.

In the past I kept a blog under this name as home for my knitting projects. I fell out of that habit a few years back, and while I've missed the reflective space I never quite got that blog back on track. So I decided it was time for a clean break, and time to try something new.

Time to stray once again and see where the non-path takes me.
